Explore. Engage. Take Action.
This page highlights ongoing projects led by the Biddeford-Saco Climate Action Team. Our work focuses on climate and conservation efforts that matter at the local level. These projects are driven by community interest, rooted in local knowledge, and open to participation.
Each project includes a link to a collaborative document with more details. You’re invited to review the materials, contribute ideas, and take part in whatever way feels meaningful to you.

Sustainable Housing for All
Focus: Creating flexible, climate-conscious housing policy in Biddeford
This campaign addresses how our city’s zoning policies can better support affordable, resilient, and community-centered housing. Our goal is to build support for local housing reforms that reflect the values of equity, walkability, and environmental responsibility.
Restore the Corridor
Focus: Conservation of Clifford Park and protection of local wildlife habitat
We are working to protect the ecological connection between Clifford Park and Blandings Park by advocating for a permanent conservation easement and raising awareness about the impacts of nearby development. This project also supports ongoing community-based efforts to restore habitat continuity.

Vernal Pool Education
Focus: Public awareness around the Biddeford-Kennebunkport Vernal Pool Complex
The Biddeford-Kennebunkport Vernal Pool Complex is one of the most ecologically significant habitats in our region. This project focuses on public education, community science, and advocacy to ensure these wetlands are recognized and protected. We’re developing materials, partnerships, and outreach strategies to elevate this issue locally.
